Dubai: Following the success of the first custom made virtual reality game at City Centre Al Shindagha and City Centre Me’aisem, Majid Al Futtaim’s City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif are hosting a second immersive game as part of the schedule of first time experiences and great moments during Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).
‘Travel Around the World’ invites mall shoppers to enter a simulated world to win instant prizes. Using state of the art technology, ‘Travel Around the World’ challenges players to fly across the globe on a hand glider high above some of the world’s most famous landmarks such as London’s Big Ben, Paris’ Eiffel Tower, the Egyptian Pyramids and New York’s Statue of Liberty.
As the game kicks off, players have to attempt to catch as many tokens that they see along their adventure, using the hand controller device. Once the player manages to collect tokens within the set time frame, they will be rewarded with travel essentials. Enhancing the real-life experience participants will sit in an actual glider steering their way through the sky while fans create the feeling of wind.
‘Travel Around the World’ has been created using a HTC Vive headset developed by HTC and Valve Corporation, released on 5 April 2016. The headset is designed to utilize “room scale” technology to turn a room into 3D space via sensors, with the virtual world allowing the user to navigate naturally, with the ability to walk around and use motion tracked handheld controllers to vividly manipulate objects, interact with precision, communicate and experience immersive environments.
Visitors are invited to experience ‘Travel Around the World’ on weekdays from 12pm – 10pm and weekends from 12pm – 12am. Available until August 20, 2016.
