Salt Dough Sculptures inspired by Jonathan Baldock
Sunday 28 August, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
Age Category: Open to all
Easily mistaken for porcelain or ceramic, each of Baldock’s sculptures are made from a mixture of flour, salt and water. Baldock uses this elaborately rudimentary technique to explore a contemporary kind of ‘primitivism’. Looking at different cultures from all over the world, his figures are adorned with florets and bijoux, armour plates, and masks. In this workshop, participants will learn about the artist and his way of sculpture making, how to prepare their salt dough, and how to shape it into a portrait.
